Terms of Service

Effective August 28, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and Carter Hinsley, the individual operating Henceforth from Georgia, United States. They govern access to the Henceforth website, game, accounts, multiplayer services, community features, and optional Supporter offerings. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

1. Eligibility and acceptance

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms for you. Do not use the Service if you cannot lawfully agree to these Terms.

2. Accounts

A supported third-party identity provider may be required to create or access a Henceforth account. You are responsible for maintaining control of that identity account and for activity performed through your Henceforth account. You may not sell, transfer, share, impersonate, or fraudulently obtain an account.

Notify Carter Hinsley promptly at carterhinsley@gmail.com if you believe an account has been compromised. Henceforth will never ask for your Google password. Do not send passwords, access tokens, full payment-card details, or other authentication secrets.

3. Alpha service and changes

Henceforth is an evolving online game. Features, balance, worlds, characters, virtual items, currencies, progression, prices, rules, and availability may change. We may reset, repair, migrate, rebalance, suspend, or discontinue game data or features when reasonably necessary for testing, security, integrity, legal compliance, or continued operation.

We aim to preserve player progress, but alpha availability and data persistence are not guaranteed. Keep any export or personal record offered by the Service if it is important to you.

4. Limited license

Subject to these Terms, you receive a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Service for lawful entertainment and testing. No ownership interest in the Service, its software, artwork, world, characters, text, music, or other content is transferred to you.

5. Fair play and acceptable conduct

You must not:

harass, threaten, stalk, discriminate against, exploit, or deliberately endanger other people;
post unlawful, infringing, deceptive, sexually exploitative, hateful, or malicious content;
cheat, automate gameplay through unauthorized bots, exploit defects, duplicate assets, manipulate markets dishonestly, or evade gameplay restrictions;
probe, attack, disrupt, overload, scrape, reverse engineer where prohibited by law, or obtain unauthorized access to the Service or another account;
trade accounts, virtual items, currency, services, or access for real-world value unless Henceforth expressly authorizes it; or
use the Service to violate law or the rights of another person.

Report serious exploits privately rather than publishing instructions that could harm players or the Service.

6. Player communications and content

You retain any rights you hold in content you submit. You grant Henceforth a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, transmit, moderate, and adapt that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, improve, and promote the Service.

You are responsible for what you submit and must have the rights required to submit it. We may remove or restrict content that violates these Terms or creates legal, safety, or operational risk.

7. Virtual items and game currency

Characters, items, property, businesses, currency, renown, titles, and other game records are licensed features of the Service, not personal property or legal tender. They have no guaranteed cash value, cannot be redeemed for money, and may be changed or removed as part of operating the game.

8. Supporter subscriptions and payments

Optional Supporter subscriptions are processed by Stripe and may renew automatically at the price and interval shown at checkout until canceled. You can manage or cancel an active subscription through the billing portal made available by the Service. Cancellation normally stops future renewal while preserving paid access through the end of the current billing period.

Taxes, refunds, and payment remedies are handled as described at checkout and as required by applicable law. Supporter benefits do not confer ownership of the Service or guarantee uninterrupted operation.

9. Enforcement and termination

We may warn, restrict, suspend, reset, or terminate access when we reasonably believe these Terms were violated; an account or activity presents a security, legal, or safety risk; payment has been reversed or obtained fraudulently; or action is needed to protect the Service or other players.

You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including intellectual-property, disclaimer, liability, and dispute provisions—will survive.

10. Third-party services

Google, Stripe, Discord, and other third-party services have their own terms and privacy practices. Henceforth does not control those services and is not responsible for their independent operation.

11. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, non-infringement, or preservation of game data. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Henceforth and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, goodwill, or opportunities arising from the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, total liability will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid directly to Henceforth during the twelve months before the claim or US $50. These limitations do not apply where prohibited by law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, when appropriate, announced through the game or community channels. Continuing to use the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
