Privacy Policy

1. Who and what this policy covers
This Privacy Policy applies to the Henceforth website, browser game, multiplayer services, account system, and related community and Supporter features available through playhenceforth.com and its subdomains (together, the “Service”).
Henceforth is an evolving online game operated by Carter Hinsley in Georgia, United States. Carter Hinsley is the person responsible for the Service and the privacy practices described in this policy. This policy explains what information the Service receives, why it is used, when it may be shared, and the choices available to players.
2. Information we collect
Google sign-in information
When you choose Continue with Google, Google authenticates you and provides only the basic identity information requested by the Service:
- a stable Google account identifier;
- your verified email address and email-verification status;
- your Google profile display name;
- your profile-picture URL, if available; and
- your locale, if available.
Henceforth uses the scopes openid, email, and profile. We do not request permission to read Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendars, payment information, passwords, or other Google content. A short-lived Google access token is used only to retrieve the identity information above during sign-in and is not retained as part of your Henceforth account.
Account and gameplay information
The Service creates an internal Henceforth account identifier and stores information needed to operate the game, including characters, names, preferences, progression, inventory, equipment, currency, crafting and profession activity, quests, movement, combat, parties, friendships, messages, trading, property, civic participation, and other multiplayer or civilization activity.
Supporter and payment information
If you purchase a Supporter subscription, Stripe processes the payment. Henceforth may retain Stripe customer, subscription, product, transaction-status, and billing-history identifiers needed to provide and administer the subscription. Henceforth does not receive or store your full card number or card security code.
Technical and security information
The Service may process IP address, request time, browser or device characteristics, session identifiers, login and security events, error information, and server logs to provide multiplayer connections, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and protect players and the Service.
3. How information is used
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- authenticate you and keep game ownership attached to the correct account;
- operate, synchronize, secure, and improve the online game;
- provide social, economic, civilization, and Supporter features;
- respond to player support, safety, abuse, and data-rights requests;
- detect fraud, cheating, exploits, unauthorized access, and service disruption; and
- comply with applicable law and enforce the Terms of Service.
Google user data is used only for authentication, account display, account recovery and support, and maintaining the connection between your Google identity and your Henceforth account. It is not used for advertising or sold.
4. When information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared only:
- with service providers that support authentication, payments, hosting, networking, security, or error diagnosis, subject to their own terms and privacy practices;
- when you intentionally make information visible through multiplayer features, such as a character name, public profile details, chat, trade, guild, kingdom, property, or civic activity;
- to investigate abuse, protect the rights and safety of players or the Service, or enforce our agreements; or
- when required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
5. Retention and deletion
Account and gameplay information is retained while needed to provide the Service. Some records may be retained longer when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, financial recordkeeping, backups, or legal compliance.
You may request deletion of your Henceforth account and associated personal information by emailing carterhinsley@gmail.com. We may ask you to verify control of the linked Google account before acting on the request. Deletion does not require deleting your Google account and does not remove information that must lawfully be retained or that has been irreversibly aggregated or anonymized.
6. Security
Henceforth uses HTTPS, server-side authorization, short-lived login handoffs, protected production credentials, and reasonable technical and organizational controls intended to protect account information. No online system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information in violation of this policy, contact us so it can be investigated and removed where appropriate.
8. International processing
The Service is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate, which may have different data-protection rules than your location.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date and, when appropriate, announced through the game or community channels.
